Beazley - Birmingham

Location: Cornerblock, 2 Cornwall St, Birmingham

Size: 13,100 sqft

Duration: 2 weeks

Scope of works: Furniture specification and supply

Sector: Finance

When Beazley started planning their new Birmingham office ei2 interiors were naturally closely involved. Working alongside designers from Paragon Interiors and ABW (activity based working) consultants Veldhoen the furniture specification was developed to meet Beazley’s needs.

Opting to go for their first full ABW office this was all new territory for Beazley’s and therefore many different styles of furniture were  evaluated and trialled prior to being specified.

The end result is stunning and as the staff moved in on the first day you could see their excitement as they looked around the office and saw the multipurpose designed area.

The space included, Duo and Collaboration work spaces, private meeting rooms, boardroom with full VC set up, a library area for quiet reading and working and a massive welcome / breakout area for large team meetings. Lockers were distributed generously throughout the space for all the staff to use, each with digi locks.

Care was given to the layout of the office with the breakout areas nearer the entrances and the quieter working areas including desking further away so that distractions are reduced. A generous amount of soft seating has been provided throughout the space along with stand up meeting areas which include full AV capabilities. Additionally there are the usual “traditional” meeting rooms, a reception and staff presentation, café and lounge area.

We were pleased to learn that the office was awarded the best workplace in the Projects up to 1,500m² category at the 2019 British Council for Offices' (BCO)  awards. The BCO judges were impressed by the workplace’s relaxed feel, featuring natural light, greenery and pavilion rooms. Judges also noted the workplace’s collaborative nature, which looks to the needs of a younger, more diverse workforce.
